He's standing there, and I remember why I said yes. He's dressed well, dark jeans, a button-down that fits him nicely, a jacket that looks effortless but intentional. His hair is slightly damp, like he just showered. He smells good. Clean. Woodsy. The kind of cologne that's subtle, not overwhelming.
"Hey," he says, and his smile is warm. Genuine. The kind of smile that reaches his eyes.
"Hi," I say back, and I mean it.
